LYN HAMILTON

will be Sleuth Thursday, April 19, 2007 to tell you all about her new novel The Chinese Alchemist (Berkley, $30), the eleventh in the Lara McClintoch archaeological mystery series. The novels feature a peripatetic antiques dealer, Lara, who travels the world seeking out the rare and beautiful for her Toronto store but ends up finding a little murder and mayhem along the way. (6 - 7:30 pm).

MAUREEN JENNINGS

will be Sleuth Wednesday, May 9, 2007 to launch the seventh Detective Murdoch novel, A Journeyman to Grief (McClelland & Stewart, $22.99 trade paperback, ). Come listen to her tell you about The Underground Railroad and Toronto's connection to that vile practice of slavery. As Maureen has done in the past, there will be a special promotional card and stamp that will only be available at the launch. This time the postcard will be of a former slave, Susan Cox Green, signed by her grandson, Al. (6 - 7:30 pm).

GILES BLUNT's By The Time You Read This (Random House, $32.95, now into reprints). The true first edition of this fourth Cardinal adventure, however, is the UK edition, called Fields Of Grief, and there are some copies of the signed first available (HarperColins. $75).
